Policies
Welcome to Dance for Kids and Brentwood Academy of Dance. We are more than just a dance studio, we are a community where children grow with confidence, creativity and compassion. From baby’s first parent and me class, to a graduating seniors final bow, we provide a loving supportive environment that nurtures each dancer’s heart as much as their technique. Our commitment is to inspire joy through movement, and guide every dancer to feel seen, valued, and empowered- on stage and in life.

Below you will find important information regarding our studio, classes and policies. Please take a moment to carefully review the information and keep it handy for future reference. We look forward to sharing this special year of dance with you and your family.

STUDIO COMMUNICATION
Dance for Kids (DFK) sends primary communications via E-MAIL. We do not share e-mail addresses with anyone outside of our organization. Important billing information, as well as studio updates, are sent via e-mail. Please make sure we always have your current e-mail address on file. Please make sure to keep your calendars updated with important dates (breaks, holidays, special events, performances, etc.) All of this information can be found on our website.

ENROLLMENT
DFK has 3 sessions per year, the FALL session runs the end of August through mid-January, the WINTER/SPRING session which runs the end of January through mid-June and SUMMER which runs mid-June through mid-August. Class sizes are limited and placement is on a first come first serve basis. Your spot in class is not guaranteed until you pay in full, and receive an email confirmation of registration.
All classes are designed and intended for a group learning environment, and class schedules and teachers are subject to change. To ensure the best experience for every dancer, small classes may be combined or cancelled, full classes will be closed. Alternatively, if enrollment/attendance is low, class times may be adjusted. Any class with only 1-3 students in attendance may run for a reduced length of time, as the dancers receive more individualized instruction in a shorter period. Please note that while class duration may be shortened in some cases, tuition remains the same.

AUTO-BILLING
When you sign up for the FALL session your child will AUTOMATICALLY be re-enrolled in the WINTER/SPRING session, unless otherwise notified. There will be a reminder email prior to the auto re-enrollment, allowing you the opportunity to make any changes to class or payment method for the winter/spring session. During our SUMMER session, we offer Summer Camps for children as well as traditional dance classes but you will not be re-enrolled into the Summer session.

TUITION, PAYMENTS, AND REGISTRATION FEE
Tuition at DFK is paid by the semester and is due in full before the semester begins. We do not prorate tuition for vacations, sickness or missed classes. If you enroll in the middle of the session, class tuition is prorated. Classes are not available at a single class rate during the FALL and WINTER/SPRING session. Private instruction is available upon request. Tuition is non-refundable.

o An annual registration fee of $49 per student will be included in tuition fees. Registration fees cover both the FALL and WINTER/SPRING session (August - June) and due upon enrollment. All enrollments, regardless of when enrollment was made, must pay the registration fee.
o Payment must be made in full when registering, payments must be made by Credit, Debit Card, Cash, ACH or Check.

RECITAL FEE
The recital fee, which includes a costume, will be charged for the Winter/Spring session at the end of February. Families will be notified by email with the amount and the due date. The card on file will be used for the recital fee. No recital fees will be refunded after the deadline, even if the student withdraws from the studio. If you enroll after the deadline, we will make every reasonable effort to place a special order for a costume which will incur a $25 special order fee. If there is not a costume available, your dancer may take class, but will not be able to participate in the recital.

REFUNDS
Refunds will not be issued. If you choose to withdraw your student from class(es), any payments that have been made to the account may be applied as a credit towards future sessions. Please notify the studio in writing (email is sufficient) if you are withdrawing your student from classes. Please note: Parents are responsible for payment on classes that occurred prior to giving notice. Registration fees are non-refundable.

MAKE-UP POLICY
There are no credits or refunds for missed classes. The child may make-up a class if he/she is absent during the session. The make-up class must be an age and level appropriate class and can only be used in the same session. (i.e make-ups received in Fall can only be used for the Fall and expire after the Fall session ends) Please call or email the office to book the make-up class, we need to make sure there is space available, DO NOT show up to a class without booking the make-up first. To plan ahead, families can mark themselves absent for future dates and use make-ups in advance.
Make-ups may not be allowed in certain classes in the WINTER/SPRING session after March 1st due to recital preparations.

DROP OFF/PICK UP POLICY
At Dance for Kids, the safety and emotional well-being of every dancer is a top priority. We ask that all parents and guardians carefully follow the procedures below to help us maintain a secure, respectful, and smoothly run studio environment.

For elementary age dancers: A parent or guardian must accompany the dancer into the building and wait with your dancer until the teacher opens the classroom door. Parents or guardians may choose to observe class, or leave, but we require you to return at least 5 minutes before dismissal to ensure a smooth pick-up. If an emergency arises and you are running late, PLEASE CALL the front desk so that we can communicate that to your dancer so they are not worried, and ensure they remain supervised until you arrive. Chronic late pickups will result in a supervision fee of $1/minute.

For dancers in middle and high school: we allow them to arrive and leave the studio independently with parental approval. If your child does not have approval to leave independently, please ensure a timely pick up. Dancers may not remain at the studio unsupervised for extended periods before or after class.
We are not responsible for dancers outside of class time.
LOST/STOLEN ITEM POLICY
Dance For Kids is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. We ask that all families and students avoid bringing any valuables to the studio. Please ensure that all personal belongings are labeled with your name and stored safely away in bags during your class. Please see our lost and found cubbies located in the changing room if you’ve misplaced any items. All unclaimed lost and found items will be donated in December and in June to local charities.
PHOTO RELEASE
All photographs or videos taken of students can be used in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements or other promotional materials the studio creates. Dance For Kids may also copyright such photographs in its name.

Thank you again for supporting our studio and the art of dance. We are excited to be a part of your child’s life and watch them grow their love for dance.
