Kayla Shapiro

Instructor

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kayla Shapiro has been dancing since the age of two, and dance has always been one of the most meaningful ways she expresses herself. Throughout her training, she studied ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary, competing at regional and national competitions.

At Calabasas High School, Kayla was one of four freshmen selected for the varsity Dance Team, where she performed at games, pep rallies, and competitions while mentoring younger dancers and developing her choreography skills. She also volunteered with Ballet for All Kids, teaching ballet to children and adults with special needs.

Kayla continued her passion for dance at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she took dance classes and was involved in a campus dance club. Dance has taught her discipline, creativity, confidence, and perseverance, while giving her a space to connect with others and express her individuality. She has also earned her yoga instructor certification, combining her love of movement, wellness, and mindfulness. Today, Kayla hopes to ignite that same spark and passion for dance in young dancers, inspiring them to find confidence, creativity, and joy through movement.

In her spare time, Kayla loves exploring new restaurants and cafés, traveling, practicing yoga, spending time at the beach, watching Dancing with the Stars, and making memories with family and friends.

She is so excited to be part of the Dance for Kids/Brentwood Academy of Dance family and looks forward to sharing her love of dance with the next generation!
